FACILITIES PLANNING DEPARTMENT, GENERAL SERVICES GROUP, JOINT ADMINISTRATION OFFICE, WHITTIER Join our team as a General Services Worker and become an essential contributor to our organization! In this role, you will have the opportunity to perform a diverse range of general maintenance tasks in a non-industrial facility.
From janitorial duties and stock room management to basic automotive maintenance, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.
With the support of our supervisors and lead workers, you will receive the guidance needed to excel in your responsibilities.
This position offers a unique blend of hands-on work and the chance to develop your skills in areas such as building maintenance, custodial duties, vehicle servicing, and minor repairs including plumbing.

The work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 7:
00am - 3:
30pm or 8:
30am-5:
00pm with a possible rotation between schedules.
The schedule will be determined by the supervisor to meet the operational needs of the department.
The list of eligible candidates resulting from this recruitment may be used to fill additional vacancies that may occur in the next six (6) months.

To perform a variety of routine maintenance tasks and manual labor primarily in a non-industrial type of facility.

Incumbents:
perform building maintenance and custodial duties.
move supplies, office furniture, partitions and stock room items.
perform a wide variety of general building maintenance and routine stock room tasks.
perform vehicle maintenance such as inspection of batteries and fluid levels.
inspect, inflate, change, and repair tires.
complete, update, and maintain vehicle service and repair logs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS All applicants must possess:
a valid California Class C driver license AND- GENERAL SERVICES WORKER II:
One year of experience as a General Services Worker I.
DESIRABLE
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has experience in:
building maintenance including plumbing, office modification and repair.
fleet vehicle maintenance including minor repairs and safety inspections.
EXAMPLES OF ASSESSMENT CRITERIA The selection process may cover:
Knowledge of:
Stock handling practices Basic concepts of equipment maintenance and repairs Basic equipment and materials used in mechanical maintenance Uses of basic hand and power tools Basic safety considerations of mechanical maintenance work Basic automotive servicing including fueling, checking batteries and oil, and changing tires Safe driving practices and traffic laws Ability to:
Lift and handle bulky items Learn to use hand and power tools used to perform basic maintenance and mechanical adjustments Utilize a computer and related equipment to maintain records, create work orders, procure merchandise, and perform other stockroom duties ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Selection Process:
All applications will be reviewed to determine if the conditions and qualifications for testing are met.
The selection process will consist of a written test weighted at 50%, and an interview weighted at 50%.
Candidates must receive a qualifying score on each selection component to move forward in the selection process.
The written exam is for the first round of qualified applicants is tentatively scheduled for the week of June 19.
